Appointments

Appointment times range from 9:30 am - 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday, but specific hours vary week to week to accommodate students' varying schedules.  Current and prospective students may schedule their appointment with a Psychology Academic Advisor online.

When scheduling an appointment through wams.wayne.edu/go/LS_PSY please follow these guidelines:

  • Initial Appointment (first appointment with a Psychology Academic Advisor)
    • Declaration of a Psychology Major or Minor
    • Provide a Psychology Plan of Wok
    • Provide General Education degree audit
    • Make course recommendations based on interest and goals
  • Graduation Progress/ Plan of Work Update
    • Psychology major and minor curriculum information
    • Assistance in accessing Wayne State University resources
    • Information on careers in Psychology and graduate studies
    • Guidance in deciding academic & career path
    • Assistance in course selection and scheduling
    • Course information (descriptions, old syllabi, pre-requisites)
    • Recommendations in identifying research and volunteer opportunities
  • Post-Graduation Planning
    • Assistance in accessing Wayne State University resources
    • Information on careers in Psychology and graduate studies

  • Prospective Student (students are requested to attend a Psychology Information Meeting before meeting with a Psychology Academic Advisor if you are interested in learning more about the major)

    • Satisfactory Academic Progress form completion  
  • Senior Graduation Audit (for the Senior Audit students are advised to meet with their advisor in their second to last semester here at WSU)

Open Advising Hours

Open advising hours are to be used for quick questions and plan-of-work updates. Initial meetings (i.e. your first advising appointment in psychology) typically take 45-75 minutes and cannot be accommodated within drop-in hours.

  • Tuesdays, 10:00 am - 12:00 pm (must be signed in no later than 11:45 am) Advisor: Solaf Matti
  • Wednesdays, 10:00 am - 12:00 pm (must be signed in no later than 11:45 am) Advisor: Teresa Steenland
  • Thursdays, 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm (must be signed in no later than 3:45 pm) Advisor: Corinne Forys      

 

Psychology Information Meeting

Prospective and current WSU students who are considering majoring or minoring in psychology are encouraged to attend as well. Meetings will cover psychology major requirements, information about graduate school, research experience, volunteer experience, the GRE, career resources, and much more. This meeting is also very helpful for individuals who are considering pursuing psychology as a second career and/or graduate studies.

  • December 3rd 4:00 – 6:00 in room 125 State Hall
  • December 18th 11:00 – 1:00 in room 125 State Hall
