Intensive Stuttering Clinic & Stuttering Programs

The intensive stuttering clinic is a 3-week program offered at the Wayne State University Speech and Language Center at various times each year. The clinic serves adults who stutter (ages 16 and older) by offering a multifaceted approach to stuttering therapy.

The goals of this clinic are to help adults who stutter:

  1. Learn facts about stuttering
  2. Manage their fluency, stuttering, and overall communication
  3. Decrease self-defeating thoughts

Clients of the program will participate in individual, small group, and large group therapy sessions.

To register for this clinic:

  • Contact Ms. Denise Walker (denise.walker@wayne.edu or 313-577-8386) to schedule a diagnostic evaluation
  • After the evaluation, clients will be notified if they qualify to participate in the intensive program.

At the conclusion of the intensive stuttering clinic, clients may choose to continue services through the Fall and Winter Outpatient programs

Individual and group stuttering programs are offered through our Outpatient program each semester. Programs are provided for children and adults.

Questions about the intensive stuttering clinic can be directed to Dr. Derek Daniels (dedaniels@wayne.edu; 313-577-8676).
