New at WSU for spring/summer 2014: Detroit: Metropolis in Transition (UP 5650)

As the story of Detroit’s historic transformation continues to twist and turn through its courtrooms, boardrooms and neighborhoods, Wayne State is set to offer the country’s first course focused on the process of restructuring an urban environment with Detroit’s unique economy, geography and culture.

  • Learn about the largest urban renewal project in the history of the world as it’s happening.
  • Listen to weekly guest lectures from iconic civil rights leaders, prominent public officials, and leaders from the private and nonprofit sectors.
  • Discuss the implementation of the Detroit Future City framework with the people who created it.
  • Take all-access field trips to destinations of interest throughout Detroit.
  • This three-credit course is open to all WSU students, guest students and professionals not seeking a degree.
