Andrea Harp, ASO II, has been awarded the Academic Staff Professional Development Committee's Distinguished Service Award for 2014. The award is presented in recognition of significant service to students, the University, one's own department, and/or community organizations.

Harp serves as the student services manager for the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. She holds a bachelor’s of interdisciplinary studies and an M.Ed. from Wayne State University. She began her career in the college as an office assistant I for the Project 350 program and was later promoted to OA II and III in the Graduation Unit of the college before becoming an administrative assistant II/office supervisor. During her tenure in the College of Science, she was promoted to an ASO I. Upon the merger of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, she became the student services manager and received a promotion to ASO II in 2011. Focused on providing the best service to graduating students, Harp has developed and implemented processes to improve and facilitate degree certification procedures for undergraduate and graduate degree candidates. Improvements are always ongoing for services provided to the faculty, staff and departments. Harp prides herself in having experienced the roles of office assistant, administrative assistant, student and academic officer throughout her more-than-40-year career at Wayne State.
